Background of the Study
Rural infrastructure development is a critical aspect of fostering socio-economic growth and improving the quality of life in rural communities. In Nigeria, local governments play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of rural infrastructure such as roads, schools, hospitals, and water supply systems. Wukari East LGA in Taraba State, which is predominantly rural, faces significant infrastructure challenges, including poor road networks, inadequate healthcare facilities, and unreliable water supply systems. These deficiencies hinder economic development, limit access to education and healthcare, and contribute to the overall poverty in the region.
Local government leadership is central to addressing these infrastructure challenges. Effective leadership in local governance can prioritize infrastructure development, allocate resources efficiently, and involve the community in decision-making processes. This study aims to assess the impact of local government leadership on the development of rural infrastructure in Wukari East LGA.
